ABOUT THIS AWARD

Dear Poets, Writers and Friends,

We are proud to announce our new venture, MAHARSHI VEDVYAS INTERNATIONAL AWARD that seeks to introduce best books nationally and internationally and also to recognize the meritorious contribution of poets and authors to the world of literature. Our aim is to contribute to the art of writing and upgrade publishing industry standards.

Poiesisonline stands for quality, merit and creativity and this new venture will emerge as a reliable platform to remember, cherish and uphold the great legacy of Maharshi VedVyas, the creator of the Indian Epic ‘Mahabharat’. This will be true to all of us that even in this information age, it is still an unresolved mystery how such a vast, detailed, well-connected, all-inclusive epic was created and gifted to this world, that too many thousands of years ago. 

"We believe that this grand acknowledgement will serve as an inspiration to all existing and emerging writers of the world to enthusiastically become more passionate in the art of creative writing."

INVITATION - REGISTRATION - RESULTS

Books accepted during 1st June  to July 31st and the Results will be available around the 15th of November.

TERMS AND CONDITIONs

Genre : Poetry 

( free verse, other structural and long format poetry collections are invited  ). ( We are not taking short, micro or haiku poetry collections for the contest )

• Contest is open to all National and International poets.

• Personal collections in English are only invited for the contest. 

  • Free verse and general kind of personal collections are invited for the contest. It is expected that the book is with poetry only, though short paragraphs, comments, pictures used and so on within the collections are allowed and treated as exceptions.

  • Poetry collection clubbed with short stories, other research articles, Haikus,micro and short poetry formats etc are not invited for the contest.

• Books published between 2017 January to Last year December are only invited for the contest.

• Minimum no. of poems in the book should be 40-50 and a maximum of  150-160.( in case there are more that 160 poems in the collection, only first 160 poems will be evaluated)

• The books published should carry an ISBN number.

• The name of the publisher should be mentioned, in case if it is not printed in the book. 

• Authors must obtain consent from their publishers and this must be submitted along with the book.

• Any proof related to the month and year of publishing should be submitted,( if that is not printed in the book.)

• Books that are entered for the past MVV contest are not invited for the for the contest. 

• Authors should refrain from sending any past reviews received for the book along with their entries.

• More than one collection can be submitted for the contest by an author provided it meets the criteria of the time frame mentioned above

• Each book will be treated as a separate entry for the contest in case of multiple entries.

• Translated books from other languages into English can also be sent to the contest with the mutual consent of the translator, the original poet/writer and the publisher. This declaration should be given by the author.

• Age restrictions for Authors - 18 or above.

• Contestants should courier/ post 3 hardcopies of the book to the address of xpresspublications mentioned below.

FOR INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPANTS AND INDIANS LIVING ABROAD

• Contestants from abroad should submit one hard copy of their published book and 1 softcopy in pdf format. This is mandatory.

• In case of non availability of soft copies, contestants should submit 3 hard copies. 

• Contestants should courier/ post 3 hardcopies of the book to the address of xpresspublications mentioned below.

• Books will remain with xpresspublications or with its juries and won't be returned back to the participants.

AWARDS & MEMENTOS

The best book as judged by the jury will be awarded MAHARSHI VEDVYAS INTERNATIONAL AWARD and a CASH AWARD of 5000 INR.

Other meritorious top four WINNERS will be given CREATIVE AUTHOR - POETRY AWARD

The registration fee is 2000/- INR per book for Indian participants

INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPANTS

35 USD for the International contestants.
